An adventure racer (up to and including 3-day non-stop racing) for the last six years, and a triathlete since the early 90's, I've been exposed to a variety training methods that pale in comparison to CrossFit. Growing up in an Ironman household (mom qualified and competed in Kona twice) has prepped me for the training demands of an endurance lifestyle. Nutrition, training consistency and goal setting are keys to success. CrossFit has opened the door for me in terms of better time management with higher quality training efforts ( I don't have to put in as many long hours on the road as I used to ). It's not to say I've eliminated my endurance training, it's more that I've found in CrossFit a path that will provide a better life balance between family, training, racing, and work. It's awesome.
Since I started CrossFit style training, I've seen a huge improvement in my race performances, and it's not just me that's noticing. My racing teammates have noticed and as I've incorporated CrossFit into the workouts I use to train clients - they've noticed improvements in their fitness and performances too. I'm a metric freak and CrossFit provides the measurement to gauge and track success, one rep at a time. I like CrossFit because every day you're doing something different and when you do come back to a workout you've done before, (if you've been even mildly consistent) you see improvement...
