Getting Started at CrossFit San Jose:

Due to the intense nature of CrossFit, client safety considerations and instructor bandwidth, we require that potential new clients are introduced to Crossfit in one of the following ways before being allowed to participate in group classes. *Note – If you are visiting us from another CrossFit affiliate all we require is a signed waiver and a drop in fee.

1. Introduction to CrossFit – This class runs twice a week every month and is a basics class that will teach new members the CrossFit exercises. These classes are held in a smaller group setting than our regular group classes. Individuals will get more instruction time from the trainers as well as participate in scaled WODs (Workout of the Day) in order to prepare them for regular group classes. The cost of this class is $100 per month.

2. Personal one on one training sessions – Some clients prefer to get started in a more personal setting and want to take a number of private sessions rather than join our “Intro” class. To be effective we have found that a minimum of 5 sessions are usually required. Individual rates vary by trainer and generally run from $65-$85 per hour. Packages are available.

3. Evaluation session – Some potential clients come from fitness and sports backgrounds (non-CrossFit ) and inquire as to whether they can just waive all of the introductory requirements and join classes immediately. Although we appreciate the benefits of having a sports and fitness background we still need to validate CrossFit readiness for the safety of our existing clients. For these people we offer a one time evaluation session with one of our trainers. In this session the trainer will take the client through some CrossFit basics and have them complete either a benchmark WOD or a WOD of their own design. If at the end of the session the trainer determines that the individual can safely join our group classes they will sign off at that time. If the trainer determines that the individual needs more practice before joining then they will recommend either our “Intro” class or private sessions depending on client preference. The cost for the one time evaluation is $40.
